Le Dang Huy was born into a poor family in Dien Ban, Quang Nam province, which includes three children. His father works as a guard, and his mother is a waitress at a restaurant.
Huy underwent a successful heart surgery in 2006, sponsored by GIBTK
Huy was a heart patient who had successful surgery in 2006 to cure his ventricular septal defect at the age of six, with the kind support of Giving It Back To Kids and its donors.
Our President - Robert visited Huy's family one year after the surgery
After 15 years, he has grown into a healthy teenager. Through our follow-up calls from that day until now, we learned that his family faced financial challenges when he was in his first year at university majoring in IT, which urged us to take action. We were honored to welcome Huy as a member of Hal’s Home in October 2020, a home for male students pursuing education at colleges and universities in Da Nang.
Huy was raised and educated at Hal's Home, a Home of GIBTK for men over 18 years old
“Now I have graduated and am working for the Ubisoft Software Company in Da Nang city with a stable salary. Owing to my abilities and specific knowledge, I had the good fortune to be chosen by the company and was sent to work for a month in Singapore. There's no greater excitement than that! Living at Hal’s Home made me aware of the value of education.
A boy with a weak heart back then has now graduated
I had the opportunity to continue my education and dream, which was previously just a distant hope. My life has been completely transformed by GIBTK, which provided me with a healthy heart, a safe and positive environment to pursue my studies, and equipped me with needed leadership skills, life skills, and emotional health.
Huy's family in 2006 and now
I am grateful to GIBTK for guiding me safely across the river and landing me with strength, confidence, and maturity. I am thankful for all of your compassion in giving me faith, hope, and encouragement to help me grow into the best version of myself. I see the rainbow at the end of my journey,” said Huy with a big smile.
To date, Giving It Back To Kids has transformed 1,865 lives through sponsoring heart surgeries. 370 students have received full scholarships to achieve their dreams.
