Witness to Hope - Carolyn’s Journal

I had been watching an amazing organization called Giving It Back To Kids for almost 2 years in Cambodia and Vietnam, when I felt it was the right time to see firsthand how they operate plus my desire to give as much love and hugs as possible to these precious young people whose start to life hadn't been great before they came into the care of GIBTK.

I  was welcomed by the children here

What really got my attention was the genuine love, support and care they give to so many young people, families and each other. From the various boys’ and girls’ homes where they thrive and pursue their dreams, providing new bikes to disadvantaged school students who now can attend every day and receive quality education.

Seeing their smiles when they realized going to school is now easier truly warmed my heart

The water filter program, new homes for primarily single disadvantaged mothers, heart operations for children whose future would possibly be very short-lived through enormous fundraising ventures to name a few.

As our team flew into Cambodia, I felt a warm and loving welcome from the GIBTK team. The love and attention they showed us during our time was truly beautiful. I loved the visits to the boys’ and girls’ homes where I saw firsthand how these young people’s lives had been transformed. I was prepared to encourage, love and hug them but this was returned to me beyond my expectations.

The next part of the trip as we flew into Vietnam, the welcome team including the boys’ and girls’ homes was overwhelmingly inspirational as we were loved on and blessed.

Once again I felt the love and care the team give to all the young people given to us. In both countries, I was very impressed with the well-organized itinerary, could see the hard work involved to ensure I had an enriching trip and at no point did I feel unloved or left out.

I would encourage anyone thinking about this to just go and be inspired and blessed as I was! Thank you GIBTK for providing such a wonderful and enriching opportunity to see love in action for not just myself and the team I came with, but so many young people and families.
