From A Struggling Boy to A Doctor - Phuong's Story!

Ngo Vinh Phuong grew up in a poor village in central Vietnam, where storms and droughts constantly threatened his family’s livelihood. Farming was unpredictable, and financial struggles were a daily reality. Despite the hardships, Phuong never gave up. He believed that education was the only way to change his future, so he studied tirelessly, determined to succeed.

His efforts paid off when he passed the entrance exam to the University of Medicine—a dream that once felt impossible. But his joy was quickly overshadowed by financial worries. The cost of tuition and living in the city was overwhelming, and his dream of becoming a doctor seemed to slip away.

Hope shone bright when he found GIBTK.

At this crucial moment, GIBTK became a beacon of hope, giving him the support he needed to continue his studies. Not only that, but Phuong was also welcomed into Hal’s Home, where he could live, study, and grow. He found a second family.

At Hal’s Home, Phuong thrived both academically and personally. He gained not only an education but also essential life skills, mentorship, and a supportive community that shaped his character. “The love, guidance, and opportunities I received here made all the difference. A day he once thought would never come is now a reality—he has graduated as a doctor

After six years of hard work, Phuong graduated with a degree in medicine, fulfilling his lifelong dream.

Today, he is in his first year as a medical intern at his hometown hospital, specializing in ophthalmology. He assists in eye surgeries, helping restore vision for those in need. But his journey doesn’t stop there—he dreams of specializing in obstetrics and pediatrics, driven by his passion for caring for mothers and children. Promising a bright and glorious future ahead.
