A Heartbeat of Hope

 

Cong was diagnosed with a congenital heart condition when he was four years old. However, his family was too poor to afford the operation, so he had not undergone any surgeries at the time.

His parents were both farmers, earning only 500,000 VND per month ($25). Cong had a twin brother who was fortunately healthy. Due to the family’s financial struggles, Cong’s two elder sisters had to quit school and take jobs in the city.

Cong needed heart surgery, and any further delays would have made the operation impossible, leaving the defects permanent.

On that fateful day in 2012, Cong received a life-changing heart surgery sponsored by GIBTK. Since then, Cong and his family have been doing very well. He was able to pursue his education and now has a stable job that provides for his needs.

The day of the successful surgery brought a radiant smile to his face

The great news is that Cong just got married on November 10, 2024, and the joy has multiplied as they now have a little girl. She is over one year old, very active, and curious about everything around her. Cong’s wife works at the same company as him, and both of them manage shift work together.

None of these wonderful things would have been possible without that life-saving surgery. Cong and his family are deeply grateful to the donors for completely transforming his life.
