Linh's father had died five years ago due to heart disease and blood cancer. His disease had been discovered when he was just three months old. Unfortunately, due to his parents' poverty, he had missed two crucial medical appointments.
Linh - a young man with congenital heart disease and a difficult background
His last appointment had been in August 2007, but his mother, who was a farmer, couldn’t earn enough money to pay for his surgery, so he had continued to miss it. Although she had taken on additional work as a hired laborer after finishing the crops, she still hadn’t been able to afford the surgery, which required a significant amount of money.
Linh and his mother, saddened by their inability to save him due to poverty
But the chance was no longer lost for Linh, because in 2007, Giving It Back To Kids entered his life and completely transformed it by sponsoring the life-changing heart surgery. He is now an adult and makes a living providing for his family. He no longer needs to take heart medication and has noticed positive changes in his body.
Linh and his old home
After purchasing a car last year to start his own driving service, his finances have
stabilized, and his income is sufficient to cover his household expenses. Meanwhile, his wife works as a seamstress nearby, leaving their son with Linh's mother. Their son, who is now almost two years old, is healthy, active, and developing normally, with no cardiac problems as his father experienced.
The once sad young man now has a happy family
"I'll never forget the day I went into the operating room for heart surgery; it gave
me a new life and a healthy body. No words can explain how grateful I am to you. Thank you so much, and if you come to visit Vietnam, I hope I can give you a warm hug to my benefactor," Linh shared to us.
