How can it be

How can it be

Today's journal is from our President, Robert Kalatschan

The thought keeps going through my mind, honestly rattles my whole body. How could it be somehow a kid that was kicked out of high school two weeks into his senior year. That led a very troubled and checkered life till he was nearly 31.

A number of years past, I married the lovely Dorothea (WAY ABOVE MY PAY-GRADE!) We adopted two kids, a Vietnamese son Tommy, born in the USA, our daughter Kristina born in Vietnam, and a dream was born.

My beloved family

This trip time after time I’ve wondered how can it be? Those who know me, know I’m probably fighting back tears, and you be right!

Being in a meeting with parents looking for funding for their child’s heart surgery. One lady holding her 1 year-old son. Sure her baby would be passed up for funding. The cost of her baby’s surgery was nearly $5,800! More than double what we normally fund. The surgeons already told her baby will require a second one as well. The dejection and sadness and lack of Hope on her face was obvious! Knowing the higher cost shed definitely be turned down. Much to my surprise 2 more kids costs of surgery was $4,800 each. Normal average cost is $2,500.

The tears of parents upon knowing the condition of their children

Tears of despair

How can it be that a guy like me began an organization that gets to say YES!!!

?To all the surgeries! I don’t know how but I know there will be way.

All these children will have access to life-changing heart surgery

Our New Hope Home in Cambodia, kids 10 to 14 years old hooked on glue sniffing most have never known Parents. God knows what kind of abuse they faced living on the streets!

The young men who once lived on the streets are now happily singing meaningful songs

Moses a 10-year-old doesn’t even know when he was born, was hooked on sniffing glue. The first couple of months in our home he tried to run away daily. Then his best buddy from his gang moved in with us after detox. Moses was overheard telling his friend don’t bring the old life into this home, we look forward to future!

His dream now is to open a home for street kids so they have a place to live, those tears are here again! LOL!

Moses's smile is full of inner strength

Dorothea’s Project Legacy named after my wife, seeing kids’ lives changed for generations to come. With about 1000 students a year go through those legacies having an opportunity get a good education, learn soft skills and about emotional health. In Vietnam public schools most kids need tutoring to graduate much less move onto a university. Over 200 kids had graduated university from our Programs!

Honestly overwhelmed by the impact of GIBTK is having. All could not be done without your words of encouragement, likes on social media and yes, your financial support! If you’re interested take a look at our website. There’s a nice six-minute video that kind of shows the accomplishments. Too many to share here.

The video on our website is rich in meaningful content

How can it be that I end up with such a wonderful beyond anything I could’ve ever dreamt life. A team that continues to grow. The major organizations that have come alongside of us.

Can I invite you if it all possible to come and see, come in person get the hugs from the kids. We have a trip late, August. Another probably end of Dec./ January and I’d love to get a team of teenagers to experience a different world.

I am amazed what could happen to a kid that was strung out on drugs, turned into a guy who fishes a lot and made pizzas, now gets to serve in several countries. Impacting the nations one child at time!.

A father's hug

How can it be that God can use a guy like me. Clearly irrefutable evidence of a living God! I gotta wonder if someone with my background and lack of education can make a difference. Perhaps there’s many who read this have a dream they’re just waiting for the right time. Contact me, let’s talk about your dream! A Quick reminder my book available on Amazon. “What if… you took a step!” Tells of lessons I’m learning leading. If you have any question or comments, please email me or contact through social media.

Thank you to all of you those that follow us on social media those that pray for us and yes, a special thanks to those who financially support us.

?We are making a huge difference in so many lives come and see!.

"We highly appreciate you and thank you for transforming lives"
