Hearts Opened: The Impact from the GIBTK Team

?Wayne’s Journal

During our time in Cambodia and Vietnam, I shed some tears, I'm telling you, thanks to Robert! I witnessed the GIBTK team in action and I tip my hat to them all. They care and love all the kids as if they were their own.

The sincere hugs immediately upon stepping off the car

These wonderful people work tirelessly to ensure every kid is cared for and nurtured. From clothing them, to getting medical treatment, providing food, somewhere to sleep, and of course, their education. But they also make sure their mental health is attended to.

The welcoming gazes from the children moved us deeply

When we would arrive at a home, and after a tremendous greeting, we would all sit around in a circle and the kids would tell their stories. They speak softly, and as they start their stories, you can hear their voices change as they speak the words "my parents didn't want me or couldn't afford to have me anymore." They would put their hand to their face and sob, and I would cry right along with them.

Wayne couldn't hold back his tears

Yep, not enough tissues for this big softy. This is where the team leaders, the house mothers, and the other kids would support their mates with some kind words of encouragement. This is also an issue for the mental health care GIBTK has in their toolbox. The house mothers are part of this amazing team which carries a huge load on their shoulders.

Sitting in a connecting circle to listen to the children's stories

From being there every day, to being a mom to a whole lot of kids, and some of them have their own families to care for. They are all amazing caregivers for kids.

The beautiful impacts that GIBTK has had and continues to have

on the children are indescribable

Thank you all for an inspiring time together. Love and hugs to you all!
