The Miracle in Battambang - Moses's Salvation

The Miracle in Battambang:
Moses's Salvation
My name is Moses, I'm 10 years old. I was born into a very tough family. My mother was a housewife, and my father was a farmer. I used to dream of having a sister, but my parents' relationship broke down when I was five. I can't even remember their names or ages. Then my mom and I moved to Poipet Province (a place where human trafficking is rampant and very close to the Thai border). My mother, a junk collector, raised three children, none of whom ever attended school. We lived as homeless in Poipet, sleeping outdoors or in abandoned houses. Later, my mother remarried another junk collector, and I stayed with them for 3-4 months before joining around 20 friends to live outside. We beg for money in markets and public places, and sometimes we cross the border into Thailand to ask tourists and shoppers for money. I made this a daily habit, crossing over to Thailand in early morning and returning to Cambodia in the evening.

We were searched by the police; some escaped, while others, including me, were arrested. At night, the police abandoned my friend and left us in the forest bordering Cambodia. It was so dark that we had no idea where to go and were lost in the forest. Fortunately, we met a man who worked in the forest, and I asked him to help us get to the Thai-Cambodian border. And we were happy to be alive again. Then I met a kind woman who saved me from a place full of gangs and drugs. She took me to the DTA center, which is a place for detoxification I went through a six-month detoxification process before being called by God to come to Battambang to live at GIBTK.

Here, I no longer need to run away. I get to eat delicious food I've never had before, I get to live and be treated like a real person, I have real siblings always by my side to help me, and most importantly, I feel genuine love that I never thought I could have. Going to school has always been a dream that I've longed for, to fulfill my dream of becoming a teacher and starting an organization to help other children who are going through similar difficulties like me. Without the GIBTK organization, I might have continued to run aimlessly in this life just to survive. I am extremely grateful for this opportunity to live again. Thank you, GIBTK.
