Duyen's Maternal Symphony
Duyen became a single mother at the age of 19. Her life faced numerous challenges as she struggled without a job, especially during her first pregnancy. In 2020, Duyen learned about the Dorothea’s Project Legacy for Pregnant Moms, a program supporting pregnant women in difficult circumstances in Que Son district. After participating in the program and gaining knowledge about maternal and child care, as well as mental health, Duyen underwent significant positive changes in herself and improved her parenting skills.
In a moment of happiness, Duyen shared, 'No words can express the gratitude I want to convey to the program and the Giving It Back To Kids (GIBTK) organization. After two years in the program, I have grown immensely. I am fortunate to receive monthly support for prenatal vitamins and have GIBTK sponsor ultrasound screenings for detecting birth defects at the hospital. My greatest joy is holding the ultrasound results and seeing the healthy development of my child. Currently, my daughter is almost 3 years old. Watching her grow every day makes me deeply emotional. Not long ago, I was timid, hesitant to share in class, completely inexperienced in caring for a small child. I am grateful for the lessons on childcare; now, when my child is ill, I remain calm because I know how to care for her. Additionally, I have learned to manage my emotions in a healthier and more positive way. I am currently selling bread in the South of Vietnam, hoping for a more stable future for both my daughter and me. I aspire to be a good mother, so I am always ready to learn new knowledge from the nursing staff of GIBTK and consistently receive excellent support in caring for my little one.
