KL., Hanoi, lessons and eager anticipations 7-21-14

My time in KL went extremely well. We met with past donor and now friend, who leads a large Amway team in SE Asia, and  supports our work. It was wonderful to finally meet Diana in person.

Our meetings with Boeing were beyond what I dare would ever be arranged.   I came to say thank you for the past 3 years of partnership. Maybe hoping to say hello Skip Boyce the Asia Boeing President in his office.

Tam, Halina (Secretary to President Boeing Asia and me :-0

BUT as so often seems to happen, divine appointments were in place. Mr. Boyce lives in Singapore. Travels a lot and is rarely in Kuala Lumpur. Just so happened he not only was in town for a night but also asked us out to dinner.

Go figure huh? God is working all the time. It was a wonderful time of sharing and building relationships.

One more time this trip I have learned that relationship must be built above and beyond all! I MUST learn this lesson. With donors and more importantly with friends. To ALWAYS continue to be available to others, no matter how life pulls at me. To answer phone calls and always to keep my word when I say I'll get back to you...

If I have not done so with one of you. Forgive me? I will try to do better.

I am in Hanoi and so good to be back in Vietnam, anxiously awaiting the arrival of my family and friends. I asked several, namely Dorothea, Kristina and Good friend Kelly Boaitey to write a note as they approach their trips. By the time you read this they will be with me.

First is from my lovely daughter, Princess and Joy of my heart Kristina

Somebody please explain to Kristina that daddy's princess does not climb trees.. especially in dresses... oh poor dad ;-)

"I'm not sure what I fear more this upcoming trip: the heat, or the 20 hour plane ride...

but besides these two, unfortunate situations, my heart could not be more ready to go. Every year, before my trip to, I find myself reading through all my old "daily" journals I kept for the adventurous days in Vietnam, in the past years.

Are princess's supposed to be sitting on roofs? oh poor dad....

Memories fill the pages, and inspire me to find new ground, and new lessons in this time on Earth we call "Life." But life has a different meaning to us all; whether the word might mean pain, and confusion to some, others might be blessed to think of life as infinite joy and success. In the end, it is the experiences we live to have, that change the entire meaning of "life" for each and every person. Whether or not we choose to learn from these experiences, or ignore opportunities to grow, God gives us a chance to live for Him every single day.

Kristina from a past trip, my has she grown up... poor daddy....

In this trip, I hope to find new parts of life, and grow closer to God with every second, to discover all the meaning in life there is to find."

Dorothea note and update

"I am so excited to returning to see all of our children and staff and introduce our traveling companions to them! I am excited and very happy to see them all once again! We are doing last minute packing today and was thinking about how grateful I am that our two children, Tommy and Kristina, as well as our good friends, Kelly and Abby Boaitey are coming along!

Just to touch on an update on my health...I am doing so well! I have spent the last few months building my immune system and eating right! I even gave up sugar to fend off the disease. |Thank you all so very much for making this journey with us. When you read it feels like we are on this adventure together!

My heart is very HAPPY this time because I see from all reports that GIBTK IS building relationships and seeing TRANSFORMATION happening, and I get to be right in the mix!

I thank you all for being GIBTK with us! You are the vehicle that brings the fruit! Your love, correspondence and gifts make the wheels turn.

Looking forward to all that God has for us on this trip. Please be looking for some exciting journals! Love and gratitude for all that you do! Please pray for us

God Bless you,"

xoxo

Note from the lovely Kelly;

Kelly's note before leaving...

"So, we leave in less that 24 hours. It has been a hard week here and I can only imagine that Satan is trying hard to STOP this trip from going smoothly. However, I have spent hours rebuking him and the ear ache and the last minute work nightmares and everything else. I am tender about the thought of leaving my Rachel.

Behind who wants so badly to come with us. I'm anxious about Abby having only a 12 hour turn around between camp and leaving for Vietnam but I KNOW, without a doubt that God has it all covered. We said yes because He asked and now we GO with open hearts and hands--- ready to see what He has for us to see.

I am positive that He will reveal His heart for the people there and I am sooooo excited, after so many years, to see the work the GIBTK has done there. Anticipating with great joy the time I will spend with your family and especially my dear friend Dorothea. I'm just overly excited all around and can't quit talking to everyone I meet about where we are leaving to this evening. I just finished lab work and I was talking to the phlebotomist about it. He is Vietnamese. Three other techs came in because they overheard me. One is from danang. She expressed gratitude for all you are doing.

I anticipate being able to share with so many more people! See u in a day or so friend!"

Please continue to keep our team in prayer. Stay tuned for more writing from them as they experience God in new and wonderful ways
