Despite pressure from neighbors to have us quit school, my mom sacrificed greatly to keep us in school. She gave me a huge opportunity to continue my studies at university in Phnom Penh.
Due to my mom's condition and we had no income in our home, we had an idea to open a small business for our family. We took out a loan from the bank and ran a laundry shop. I worked for this laundry shop for about 7 years. I took this job seriously, and at the same time I am holding my dream deeply in my heart. I want to help others by providing a chance for them to go to school, I don’t want them to end up dropping school just like me.
While Covid hit, my business dropped dramatically. I only can earn for living but not for my dad's medicine. I couldn't have enough money to pay the loan and medicine for my dad. Fortunately, God has transformed my life wholeheartedly into the person that I don’t dare to believe. I had a chance to go back to school. I had a chance to meet GIBTK. I was not the first person whom they selected to be a leader of the boys’ dorm. The more I learn about GIBTK, the more my passion is stirring up. Even though I was not chosen at first, I keep trusting the Lord for every step in my life. I was given a chance to volunteer as a dorm Leader. I am still not sure if I was chosen. But when I saw the boys and got connected with them, my heart passionately suffered for them. I committed strongly even if they don’t choose me, I will still do my best for the time that I have a chance to lead them. The Lord has blessed me with an idea of leading them. He used my working's experience at the laundry shop to understand different people around me better so I can understand better the differences in personality that the boys have. I am figuring it out how to serve better for their dream to reach full potential that had hidden within them. As the day went by, I was allowed to be an intern for a while and then a full-time staff. I praised the Lord for what He has done in my life from nobody to be someone. Thank you to all of the leaders for giving me a chance to join the vision and the mission of Giving It Back To Kids. It is more than a blessing to me and my family. I hope one day I can share my story personally how God has restored my life personally to where I am today. Thank you so much.
