Gentle Hearts, Resilient Spirits

Gentle Hearts, Resilient Spirits

Journal from a lovely couple - Tony & Alli

Cambodians love color and light. But the most noticeable thing is the gentleness of their spirit. They are very sweet natured and respectful, especially towards older people. Even in the poorest village the children came running to hug us. But nowhere was this more noticeable than at the children’s homes.

The tears filled with emotions from Alli

The tears started as soon as the bus pulled up to see the children excitedly lined up with welcome signs and flowers and enormous smiles. There were plenty of hugs and they really know how to get the most out of a hug: they draw love out if you, but pour it back in. Someone was always holding my hand or chatting to me. It filled me up. Perhaps the most surprising thing was the genuine joy.

The sincere embraces between them

These children from GIBTK’s Homes have come from very challenging and deprived backgrounds, but are very quick to laugh. In fact, the whole country surprised me because of their traumatic national history. We saw the horror of the killing fields and the darkness of the temples but Cambodia is amazingly resilient.

The touching performance about their life from the girls

This was our first trip to Cambodia so I didn’t know what to expect. What we discovered was a gentle people who touched my heart. They suffered enormously under the Pol Pot regime, and yet they are kind and generous and humble in their interactions.

Tony & Alli are extremely happy to receive the cards with meaningful wishes from the children

When I met the children in the homes, it was hard not to weep. They came from very difficult backgrounds: gangs, drug addictions, prostitution, abuse, neglect. We are so blessed in our country, and have so much.

They spend time giving blessings to the children

They have so little, and yet they desire so much to live significant lives and impact their country for God’s kingdom. And it's truly joyful to see these children being nurtured fully in the arms of Giving It Back To Kids, witnessing the events unfolding within the shelter and hearing the dreams and aspirations of the children, we firmly believe that GIBTK is making a tremendous difference in the lives of these children and in the world of God.

The sincere look from the boy, once a gang member engaged in extortion to make a living

If you want a deeper walk with God, go to Cambodia and Vietnam. God will speak to you there.

A truly amazing team!!!
