John Scudder has lived in Newport Beach, California, for the better part of fifty years. A graduate of the University of Southern California with a degree in business, he did further study at the Art Center College. After a number of years in Los Angeles working in photography and ceramics, he returned to Newport Beach to join his brothers, and became involved in farming operations in North County, San Diego. Today, he still farms, growing flowers and avocados. His family has been in the food manufacturing business since the 1920's, his grandmother was the potato chip queen, Laura Scudder. For the last twenty years, John has served with different philanthropic organizations including work with Chapman University in Orange, California, and the Albert Schweitzer Center, in Great Barrington, Massachusetts. He was also involved in a five year project assisting five schools in Loreto, Mexico. Currently, John is the Director of Charities for the Travelers of Gulliver's group, based at Gulliver's Restaurant, Newport Beach, California and is president of the Marjorie Mosher Schmidt Foundation.
