Pov Srey

My name is Pov Srey Toch. I graduated in the field of accounting and finance in June 2023 at Build Bright University. I was born on 06 Sept 2002. My birth place is in Battambang province. We had four members in our family. My father passed away since I was 7 months old. As a single parent, my mother worked very hard to raise us. It was so tough but at least we had food. However, everything became ruined and worsened when my mother was in an accident and developed a horrible sickness, which was equivalent to cancer. My both elder sisters were sent to the orphanages in Phnom Penh because of the crisis that had happened so sudden in my family. At the age of nine, I was the one who stayed with my mother to care for her. My heart broke every time I saw her in pain, and I am frightened of losing her. I was so broken that I were unable to release any burdens of my family. Every day, I longed for speedy growth so that I could find a job, earn money, and take my mother to the hospital. At that moment, I realized that only education could help me to get out from this situation, but the question was “How can I have that education?”. At the time, it kept repeatedly came to my mind.
After finishing my high school, it was the time that God revealed his plan for my life.
Thanks to my aunt and her family for supporting me until I finished my high school. After finishing my high school, it was the time that God revealed his plan for my life even though I had no idea about Him. I was given the best opportunity by GIBTK. I could pursue my dream for continuing university. The love and support from GIBTK and everyone in Marlene's and Vera’s home in Cambodia transformed my life. Without giving it back to Kids, I will quit school and end up working somewhere. When I was in my third year of university. I planned to work somewhere else which is related to my major as an accountant. Suddenly, God touches my heart our joining a vision in Giving It Back To Kids. As God has worked in my heart, Remembering by I was growing without a dad figure in the home and longing for love, care, and support . Because of Giving It Back To Kid, I was growing as the best version I can be. I was healed, completed, and transformed from the inside out. Furthermore, God transformed my most challenging scenario into a blessing.
Because of what I have been through, I can put myself in the girls’ shoes. I was thinking of sharing my life in helping other. Suddenly, one question pop in my mind, “What if I could be part of helping the girls? Or perhaps, I could give back what I got from GIBTK to them?”. So working in Giving It Back to Kid is God’s calling. I am so grateful and thankful to the opportunity that GIBTK gave me to be a part of this great team.
