Dinh Thi Thao Van

My name is Dinh Thi Thao Van. I was born in 1997 in Nam Dinh – a northern province of Viet Nam. My parents moved to Da Nang when I was five, so I grew up here. There are four members in my family: my parents, my brother (eleven older than me) and I. The most grateful thing in my life is having a fulfilled family. My parents always educate me to become a kind and loving person which helps me stand firm against temptations of life. The way they treat and help the poor and less fortunate people inspires me a lot.
The most grateful thing in my life is having a fulfilled family.
That is the reason I have pursued the dream of working for non-government organizations to help more people in need since I was high school. I want to make a contribution to change people’s lives because I believe that everyone deserves to be happy. Therefore, after graduating from the university, I worked for an NGO called GGC Viet Nam nearly a year. We went to social support centers and orphanages to do physical therapy for children with disabilities, hyperactivity and autism. I was in charge of translating for Australian physiotherapists and help them prepare materials for therapies.
Seeing those kids are able to walk and do daily activities by themselves made me feel like all our efforts paid off. I really love that job but because of Covid 19, the Australian therapist could not come to Viet Nam and the organization was closed down so I did not work there anymore. Fortunately, I knew GIBTK where I could go on following my passion. Working here is one of my luckiest things in my life. I can not only help unfortune children but also discover and complete myself. I hope my enthusiasm, perseverance, and love are big enough to change more children’s lives and help them have brighter future. I always think that: “Helping one person might not change the whole world, but it could change the world for one person”.
