Tran Hong Nhung

My name is Tran Hong Nhung. I was born in late 1998 in Da Nang. My family consists of 4 members: my parents, me and my younger sister. My dad is a truck driver and my mom is a tailor. My father is from Quang Nam province. Because his family had been very poor and he has many siblings, my father had been alone in Da Nang city to set up a career since he was only 16 years old.
I really love and admire my parents a lot because they are always ready to overcome adversities and make life a better place than before.
My mother also comes from a large family and her father passed away early. Therefore, despite receiving the announcement of being admitted to a university in Ho Chi Minh City, my mother sadly decided to study sewing to earn money to support her life, helping her mother with daily living expenses for her siblings. Although my parents work hard to earn money to support my family life, they always provide me and my sisters with the best conditions that they can. I really love and admire my parents a lot because they are always ready to overcome adversities and make life a better place than before. Every time I have a difficult time, I think about my parents. When thinking about my parents' sweat and tears, the more I feel I need to move forward and have to conquer challenges to not disappoint myparents.
I have known the Non-government organization GIBTK since I was a senior at Danang Foreign Languages University. Fortunately, I was an intern at GIBTK in June 2020. Two months of internship helped me realize the truth that I had never thought of before: everyone is a special piece of the puzzle, each child has the right to be fully nourished and loved, receive education, take care of their health, have fun and live in a healthy environment. Since then, I have nurtured my dream of becoming a member of GIBTK to be able to help children with special circumstances, childhood souls who have suffered a lot in the past. The child's smile is the driving force for me to be able to join in the Home project in early January 2021. I am over the moon to work at GIBTK - a place that brings support and transforms the lives of unlucky children for the better.
