Nguyen Thi Ngoc Anh

Hello Everyone, My name is Ngoc Anh. I was born in 1983 I am married and have one daughter. I started working with GITBK on August 20th, 2012 and I love the working atmosphere here. Curently, I am in charge of two homes The Father’s House and The Hal’s home. I also would like to tell you briefly about my family. Because of the past traditional culture in Vietnam, all family must have one boy at least, and my family is not an exception. After delivering baby girl 4 times, my father continued to ask my mom to get pregnant again. At 7 months pregnant with 5th baby, the doctor diagnosed my father with cancer. We all were in shocked.
I was born in poverty so I could understand how difficult is it to keep a child from a poor family at school.
My mom always stayed by my father’s side. However, the doctor said that his cancer was untreatable and they sent my father back home. At that time, I still was a small girl, and I didn’t understand the serious trouble my family was in. My father was in danger and no one could save his life anymore. We were so poor and had a high risk that we would stop going to school. However, my mom is a very strong woman. After delivering the 5th baby and again it was a girl. She did everything to make money to keep all of her children at school. In my mind I always admire and love my mom so much. She has been the greatest hero in my life.
Because of my mom’s efforts, I could finish my tertiary in Da Lat university – Bachelor of english. After I graduated university, I started working as a receptionist in Hoi An Riversider Resort for more than one year. At that time, my friend asked me if I felt interested in working with charity, and I said yes. I was born in poverty so I could understand how difficult is it to keep a child from a poor family at school. I wish I could do something to help them. And the NGO charity that I had worked with was Children’s Hope In Action (CHIA) had helped me to fulfill that wish. My main job was an education sponsorship coordinator first and then coordinator of Hoi An children’s home where we could help 30 children from very poor families. I had been working over there for over 5 years. I loved working at CHIA, but it is located in Hoi An and my hometown is in Danang. I felt I was so lucky to meet GIBTK to continue my passionate work. GIBTK has a different way of working then I have ever worked before and I am enjoying it. Joining GIBTK, I still can work with unfortunate children. I love children! And of course I want to help them to have a better bright future. Ngoc Anh
