Nguyen Thi Minh Lanh

I am Nguyen Thi Minh Lanh – I was born in 1990. I feel very lucky for the life I have had. I was born to a family with 6 members: my parents, me, and 3 older sisters. My father is a policeman and my mother is a worker. Due to various difficulties, I was the only one of my siblings able to attend University.
Due to various difficulties, I was the only one of my siblings able to attend University.
While I know that my parents were tormented by not being able to provide the same opportunities others had to all of us, they and my sisters have always been very supportive of me. My family brings great joy and energy to my life, and I always try to live up to the kindness they have shown me and make them proud. I started to work when I was still a high school student, and life taught me how to deal with many difficulties. Because of my experiences, I truly want to help people, especially those with disadvantaged circumstances. During my time as a student at the College of Foreign Languages of the University of Da Nang, I was a volunteer for several NGOs, and GIBTK was the first place to make my dream come true.
When I was a second year student, GIBTK’s staff opened my eyes to a world I had not yet known when I worked as an intern. Here was a place in which I could live in happiness and share my love for others. They gave me my first opportunity to help bring joy to disadvantaged people. The memory of my experience with them followed me during my time as a student, and I always dreamt of having a similar job which I could devote all of my effort to. Luckily, fate brought me back to Giving It Back To Kids, where I started my regular employment in February 2013. Being able to work in a job that is the fulfillment of my dreams and helps me to help others is truly a great blessing.
