Duong Thi Thuy Giang

My full name is Duong Thi Thuy Giang. I was born in 1995 and grew up in Quang Nam province which is located in the central part of Viet Nam. I am the youngest girl in a family of ten members including my parents, four elder brothers and three elder sisters. Both of my parents are farmers and they have to work very hard on the farm to take care of all of us. Because of the large number of members in my family, our life was not easy. We didn’t have enough food to eat. Some of my siblings had to stop their studies when they were kids. They moved to the other cities to work as hired laborers to earn money so that they could help our parents and bring a better education for the younger siblings.
Because of the large number of members in my family, our life was not easy.
By understanding my family’s hardships and sacrifices, I always tried my best to study and finally I became a teacher of English after graduating from Hue University of Foreign Languages, majoring in English teaching in July, 2017. I had one year teaching experience in Kon Tum city before coming back to Da Nang. By accident, I saw GIBTK organization’s recruiting information for an English teacher for a community class project for less-fortunate students. So I applied to this position and became a new staff member after one week.
GIBTK brings to me a brand new impression, in which people are working very hard not for their personal benefits, but for transforming the unlucky people’ lives in Viet Nam. I love teaching, love working with kids and love volunteering as well. So I want to be a part of the GIBTK organization on the way to bring a better life for children.
